Get Rewarded for Shopping at Target (And Other Retailers)

This just in from Target: They’re now rewarding you for walking in their doors

Running errands just got a whole lot more lucrative.

This morning, Target let us know they are now rewarding all of us just for walking in their doors. How? They’re partnered with a company called shopkick (it’s a free mobile app that you can get on your iPhone or Android). Once you have the app on your phone, each time you walk into any Target store and open the app, you are rewarded with points (or “kicks” as they’re called).

Here’s how it works: download the free app, and open it as you walk in to any Target.  Shopkick’s location-based technology recognizes that you’ve arrived, and greets you with a gift:  kicks, which show up instantly on your phone.

Once you hit a set number of kicks, you can redeem them for awesome rewards (like Target gift cards!) right on your phone.

Then, you can keep racking up the kicks by using your phone to scan specific product barcodes inside the store.  Along the way, the app offers coupons, discounts and other rewards.

A fun diagram showing how it works, plus more background on the app can be found here, on Target’s online mag, A Bullseye View:http://abullseyeview.com/target-introduces-shopkick-app-to-stores-nationwide/

In celebration of launch, Target is hosting a nationwide launch party, offering you 300 kicks when you walk in today. The party will continue next week with 200-kick walk-ins Friday through Monday.

shopkick is also celebrating with their “Smile and Say ‘Nationwide!”” campaign—all you have to do is take a crazy picture of yourself at your favorite Target store, and send it to shopkick at contest@shopkick.com for a chance to win 2500 kicks!! There will be a winner every hour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. PDT Wednesday May 23rd.

The moral of the story?

We already had to pick up those light bulbs and a few graduation cards (and maybe try on that that new dress?) – may as well get rewarded for it.

The Shops at Target are now open! With The Shops, Target aims to bring some favorite local boutiques to the masses. Store options include The Webster from Miami, Privet House from Connecticut, Cos Bar from Aspen, Polka Dog Bakery from Boston, and The Candy Store from San Francisco.

The shops opened this morning, but thus far everything is in stock! The opening of The Shops was pretty highly anticipated though, so who knows how long everything will be available. For the best selection, I recommend shopping early!

The Webster Cap Toe Flat

I am fairly certain my shoe wardrobe needs these Cap Toe Flats from The Webster {$29.99}.

Privet House Green Bowls

These Green Bowls from Privet House {$13.99 for a set of 4} remind me of something you’d find at Anthropologie.

Drugstore Beauty: 2 easy-Saves with stacking coupons at Target

by Sheri on May 4th, 2012

Did you know that at Target, Walgreens, and CVS you can “stack” coupons?

All this means is that you can use both a manufacturer’s coupon and a store coupon on the same item for even more savings.

And below are two easy Target deals to stack.

New Feature: Drugstore Beauty

by Lisa on May 1st, 2012

We’ve got a new feature about to launch here at FF, and I thought I’d give you all a quick heads up. Sheri, a fellow Chicagoan, is going to start writing regular features called “Drugstore Beauty,” which will help you save on cosmetics, beauty products, and personal health items at Walgreens, CVS, and Target.

How many of us stop into Target or whatnot and just pick up a lipstick or two with little to no regard to the price? Now, with Sheri’s help, that will be a thing of the past.

Expect Sheri’s first post later today. I just wanted to give you all a heads up because what she’ll be doing is a little different from what we normally do but I’ve gotta say … I can’t wait to see what deals Sheri comes up with!!!

Beauty Reviewed: It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In

by Megan on April 27th, 2012

As I’ve mentioned before, I have frizzy curly hair. I have tried practically everything under the sun. At my most recent hair appointment, I requested the girl blow my hair straight, as I’m entirely too lazy to do so and it makes my arm tired. :) Prior to getting started on the straightening, she used It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In. It takes about 30 minutes to straighten my hair, so I got antsy and started checking out all the products on her counter. That’s when I grabbed the It’s a 10. She said she loves this product as a leave-in and it helps with tangles. I’m like a five-year old and my hair is ALWAYS tangled. I wish I was kidding…

When my appointment was over, I hopped over to Target and snagged this little number. The 10 things that this product claims to do are:

1. Repairs dry damaged hair.

2. Adds shine.

3. Smoothes and controls frizz.

4. Seas and protects hair color.

5. Detangles.

6. Prevents split ends.

7. Stops hair breakage.

8. Creates silkiness.

9. Enhances natural body.

10. Flat iron spray and thermal protector.

Folks, I have body for days in my hair, so I didn’t really need help with that. What I did need help with was the tangles, the frizz and the dryness. This product was a must. I will definitely say this product does 1-9. Number 10 doesn’t seem to be working for me….

Since I got frisky at the hairdressers, I also asked for bangs. I need to straighten them every morning or I look insane. This doesn’t really do much in terms of acting as a straightening product. Granted, it claims to act as a flat-iron spray and thermal protector, so I’m not sure that necessarily means a straightening product, but what do I know. I think the thermal protector part is true- my bangs don’t seem to be too fried from the ironing every morning, but I still have to use some sort of serum in my hair or I’m left with a poof.

By no means am I discounting this product, as I’m a total fan. I just am putting in my two cents. If you have curly, frizzy, out of control hair, perhaps use a serum too. All in all, doing 9 out of 10 of the above mentioned things warrants a positive review in my book! I would definitely buy this product again! And, for $17.99 it’s not a bad deal! I’ve been using it everyday for month and I’ve still got a lot left.
