Sam Edelman Creates Line of Shoes for American Eagle

by Lisa on February 2nd, 2012

Sam Edelman for American Eagle

I have long been a fan of Sam Edelman footwear, but on any given day they generally cost more than I’m willing to pay. Sam Edelman is one of the first lines of shoes that I actually KNEW and could recognize. There’s just something about SE style that really speaks to me.

Now Sam Edelman shoes are available at a price point more people can afford because American Eagle has launched an exclusive partnership with Sam Edelman! Featuring crocheted ballet flats, embellished sandals, wooden wedges and more, this new collaboration combines the style of Sam Edelman with the classic-cool vibe of the American Eagle girl—all at affordable price points, ranging from $39.50 to $59.50!

The Sam Edelman for AEO Twist Wedge above is one of my favorites, and of course they’re at the expensive end of the spectrum at $59.50.

Though they’re not normally what I would choose, I also like both of these crochet styles! The Crocheted Ballet Flat costs $39.50 and the crocheted espadrille is $49.50.

TOMS Ballet Flats Released Today!

by Lisa on February 1st, 2012

TOMS ballet flats

TOMS Ballet Flats were released today!

I’m so excited I already purchased a pair of the TOMS Alessandra Burlap Ballet Flats you see above. I love the mix of the beige with the black. I’m hoping they’re as comfortable as all the TOMS lovers in the world have been proclaiming.

There are some really cute styles and I had a hard time deciding which pair to get. All of the pairs are comparably priced between a range of $74 to $84. The pair above cost $79. {I didn’t have a coupon, but sometimes a girl just has to go for it.}

I told you all before that I really don’t like the look of classic TOMS at all, so I’ll be sure to let you know what I think of these as soon as they arrive! I’m hoping I love them because I’m in the market for a cute pair of ballet flats that are super comfy and good for everyday use.

Etsy Monday: J Dot Designs

by Megan on January 30th, 2012

Sometimes I come across an Etsy shop and literally gasp. Today’s featured shop made me stop in my tracks. J Dot Designs makes fabulous accessories for your shoes, wrists, and clothes. The shop’s owner, Joy was looking for some fun ways to dress up her boots and could not find any. So J Dot Designs was created.

Total swoonworthy….

*Length: approx. 9 1/4″

Dreamy, right?! I think these are super fierce. How great would they be with leggings or an awesome little black dress?! LOVE! And, if you’d like them in another color, no problem! Just let Joy know and she’s happy to oblige!

How awesome is J Dot Designs?! And now, for one week only, you can get free shipping on all items in the shop. Just use the code “EtsyMonday” during checkout. This code will be good until February 6.

Joy was kind enough to answer some questions. Enjoy!

1. What made you want to start your Etsy shop?

I’ve always been a creative person and had this idea for a way that you could dress up your shoes. I did some research and couldn’t really find what I was looking for, so I decided to just do it and set up my etsy shop.

2. What is the most fabulous piece you’ve ever made?

Hmm, thats a hard one. I think the purple suede spats with pink & blue feathers are especially fabulous (in my opinion).

3. What is your favorite item in your shop?

I was obsessed with the hot pink warrior cuffs for a while but now I’m loving the spats with chains.

4. Where do you get your inspiration from?

Everywhere, I keep a notebook to jot down ideas. It comes at the most random moments sometimes.

5. What is your favorite color?

Turquoise.

Thanks so much Joy! And remember, from now until February 6 you can get free shipping with the code ‘EtsyMonday’. Happy shopping!

Shoedazzle Review: The Heide Boot

by Laura on January 17th, 2012

Lisa was kind enough to let me review Shoedazzle this month. Like other shopping clubs, with Shoedazzle I took a quiz of my style and then Shoedazzle puts together recommendations of what shoes would fit my style best.

Frankly, I didn’t love any of them. I knew I wanted to try boots, so instead shopped around on site until I found the Heide boot.  Priced at $39.95, I can say that I liked the boot.  They were comfortable, and are the tallest pair of boots I own, coming up to below my knee (I’m 5’2″ and three quarters).

I will say though, the quality is not nearly as great as a pair of boots from Nine West.  Instead, I felt these were more on par with a pair of boots from Payless, which is understandable from what you are getting for the price. My other complaint was that sometimes the boot slouched a little and looked wrinkled in the front, which I feel looks a tad awkward.

Otherwise, these Heide boots look great with a pair of jeans or leggings. If you want a pair, add yourself to the waiting list since they are currently sold out!

Sole Society Emerson Review

by Lisa on January 10th, 2012

Sole Society Emerson

Sole Society Emerson 2

At some point last year Plum District had discounted vouchers available for Sole Society, so I decided to snag one so I could check out HauteLook’s shoe dedicated shopping club. I realized the voucher was about to expire a couple of weeks ago, so I decided to pick up the SoleSociety Emerson shoe in gold that you see above.

I am positively obsessed with gold right now. I just can’t get enough. I have a lot of pairs of shoes, but I don’t have a moccasin like this, so combine those two and that’s why I got the Emerson.

Per shipping times, I have no idea how quickly the package arrived. It showed up during the hustle and bustle of the holidays when I wasn’t exactly paying attention.

In this day where we can get some of the biggest designer names in footwear for a small fraction of the retail price at the sample sale sites or even stores like Marshall’s, I rarely never pay over $25 for a pair of non-designer shoes. It’s just not worth it to me because there are better deals to be found elsewhere. Had I paid full price, these shoes would have set me back $49.99! That’s a whole lot of money for non-name brand shoes! This was definitely the first turn-off to me. {Luckily, I didn’t pay full price thanks to my Plum District voucher, otherwise I never would have purchased the Emersons.}

The second issue I had with this shoe is that they just felt cheap. The gold is actually a really nice color that I like, but the pleather is super flimsy. The shoes are super lightweight, which could be nice but I don’t think they will hold up to much regular wear and tear. There’s absolutely no support inside the shoe, and after two quick outings the sole is showing some signs of wear.

This is likely the only purchase I will be making from Sole Society, and I’m just going to say I am not a fan. These shoes aren’t worth $49.99. I would have happily picked them up for $10 at Payless or a thrift store, but I definitely wouldn’t pay much more than that.

Have any of you ordered from Sole Society in the past? Did you have better luck than me?
