Beauty Reviewed: VMV Hypoallergenics Grandma Minnie’s Oil’s Well Nurturing Do-It-Oil

by Megan on May 23rd, 2012

Have you tried VMV Hypoallergenics Grandma Minnie’s Oil’s Well Nurturing Do-It-Oil 9.47 fl oz.? No? Well, I highly recommend it! Although it says baby on the bottle, it’s for grown-ups too, I promise! This formula ”gives instant relief to dry and itchy skin and provides an ouchless way to clean cuts and scrapes. Using organic virgin coconut oil and coconut derived monolaurin this special formula effectively moisturizes and disinfects without irritating the skin.” I believe that I’ve mentioned before that I have really dry skin. Sometimes it’s so bad that I scratch in the middle of the night and wake up with scratch marks on my legs. Attractive, I know! There have even been times where I have scratched so much that I’ve woken my husband up. It’ s bad….Also, I’m a wuss and HATE putting alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on cuts because it stings. If this takes the ouch out, I’m all for it!

I have recently begun using VMV Hypoallergenics Grandma Minnie’s Oil’s Well Nurturing Do-It-Oil 9.47 fl oz. and have found that the itchiness has subsided. Phew! It’s ingredients include: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Glyceryl Laurate and, according to Dermastore, can be used as follows:

Treats These Conditions: Diaper Rash, Psoriasis, Hypersensitive Skin, Seborrheic Dermatitis, Eczema
Body: Body Oils
Ingredient: Essential Oils
Application Area: Body
Natural and Organic : Paraben-free
Physician Strength: Spa Exclusive

Granted, I can’t speak about the diaper rash part, but I can speak about the hypersensitive skin. It works very well! There are a few “cons” however. If this product sits in 70 degrees or less, the coconut oil will solidify. Luckily, they provide you with a scooper. It’s been hot here in MD, so of course I’ve had the AC on. Go figure… It also comes with a pump, so if it doesn’t solidify, then you are able to pump the oil out. I love convenience, so the fact that it comes with both is handy. I wouldn’t even consider this much of a con really, just something to be aware of. I was confused at first because I don’t always read directions and couldn’t figure out why the pump didn’t work. :)

Also, as this is an oil, your hands will be really, really slippery. And your extremities. Just be careful!

All in all, I’m extremely pleased with this product. I put it on this morning around 7 am when I got out of the shower and three hours later my skin still feels moisturized and hydrated. VMV Hypoallergenics Grandma Minnie’s Oil’s Well Nurturing Do-It-Oil 9.47 fl oz. is $30 on Amazon and trust me, a little goes a long way.

Amazon Music Trade-In: Send Your Old CDs to Amazon & Get a Gift Card

by Lisa on April 19th, 2012

Amazon Music Trade-In

Did you know that Amazon has a Music Trade-In program? I discovered this the other day and it totally made my week because our apartment is overflowing with CDs we don’t need.

Amazon doesn’t accept all CDs and you’re not going to get rich trading them in, but it’s a lot better than getting nothing or having piles of CDs sitting under your bed gathering dust.

You just search for the CDs you have and Amazon tells you how much credit they’d offer you. Mail what you want to Amazon using a free shipping label and then you’ll earn Amazon credit.

Here are all of the details on Amazon’s Music Trade-In Program.

Save on Swimsuits at T.J. Maxx

by Dory on March 23rd, 2012

I haven’t been in a suburban setting to shop at a T.J. Maxx in a long time but I recently visited family on Long Island and couldn’t help checking out the store’s inventory. They had tons of amazing swimsuits! Since I’m going to Cancun today (yay!), I got three new bathing suits. I got a coral 2-piece La Blanca marked $79 retail and paid $24.99 at T.J.’s!

I also got this La Blanca suit in red:

La Blanca Bandeau One Piece Swimsuit

Bloomingdale’s price: $109
T.J. Maxx price: $29.99

I guess I was having a retro moment, because I also picked out a Jantzen one-piece similar to this:

Jantzen Women’s Sheer Me Up Retro Glam Swimsuit

Amazon: $118
T.J. Maxx: $24.99 (retail price $98)

Amazon Offers 100 Kindle Books for $3.99 or Less

by Lisa on March 6th, 2012

Kindle-Books

For some reason I had no idea that Amazon releases a list of 100 Kindle Books that are on sale for $3.99 or less each month! This news absolutely made my night last night. :)

Considering it’s the beginning of March, there’s a new list of books available. Check them all out here.

Many of the books are non-fiction and include a few cookbooks, but the book Original Sins looks interesting to me.

Original Sins

I like the $2.99 price tag and the story about growing up in Tennessee in the 50s and 60s is intriguing! It shall be mine!

Happy reading!
