There’s a new sample sale site joining the legions, LuxeYard.

LuxeYard appears to be a cross between One Kings Lane and Fab, with lots of funky, fun, and upscale home items. Prices will be up to 70% below retail. LuxeYard claims to have some of the best shipping rates, but after scouring the site I can’t find any set prices.

There’s something about Chicago’s gloomy and frigid winter that always makes me refresh my selection of handbags. True story! I prefer to do most of my shopping in the winter! Snuggled under a blanket on the couch, fireplace blazing, a guilty pleasure on tv, and my credit card a-shopping.

Isn’t that a cute family photo? Speaking of, have we ever seen a photo of Jessica Alba’s entire family? Have we ever seen the new baby? Important questions, I know!

Jessica Alba has apparently released a line of home and baby products available in subscription box format on a website called Honest.com. You choose which bundle you need – bath, skin, and cleaning products or diapers and wipes – and then they’ll be delivered to your door each month.

According to Honest.com, it appears the diaper bundle will cost approximately $80 per month (and will include all diapers and wipes needed in a month) and the skincare/cleaning bundle will cost about $36 per month.

If you want to try out these products but don’t want to commit to that price tag, head on over to Zulily because they’re offering half off one month of each of those bundles! Instead of $80, Zulily has a month’s supply of diapers and wipes for just $39.99, or a month’s supply of skincare/cleaning products for $17.99! Definitely good prices if you want to give Jessica Alba’s new service a test run!

There’s a new sample sale site on the horizon for those of you that enjoy booking travel deals through the discount sites. Introducing Bungolow, which purports to bring some of the best deals out there for Latin America!

They don’t have a ton of sales up yet, but if you’re planning a trip south this is one site to keep on your radar! Currently they have a sale for a hotel in Pucon, Chile.

The prices are spectacular, but I also had my $50 voucher from Plum District as well as $20 worth of credits so I ended up purchasing 5 items and paying just $10.95! The items available in the sale aren’t even available at Gap, which made shopping even more fun. Now if only they’d arrive this afternoon, in time for my first gym appearance of 2012.

I didn’t actually pick up one of these Fleece Snap Hoodies, but that’s because I snagged a couple of hoodies from Lucy last year. When they hit Gap they’ll sell for $44.95, but HauteLook has them for just $18!

I did pick up this Slouchy Hoodie and I can’t wait for it to arrive. Doesn’t it look comfy? I love the color, too. I don’t have anything else in my closet that’s this shade. It’s just $15.

I also picked up this fantastically colored Wicking Cotton Racing Tank for just $8.

Additionally, I picked up a tee shirt and 2 pairs of workout pants. I can’t wait for this package to arrive!!!

I did my research and thought this would be a great option because it had a water reserve, and you could use it to make coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. Everything I could possibly want and I’d be able to make 6 cups before I had to refill the water.

Beyond the Rack is selling the B40 Elite Brewer for $124.99. I had some credits so wouldn’t end up paying all that much but I still decided to take a quick look at Google Shopping to see how the prices compare.

I’m not going to sugarcoat it. The results were not good.

Almost EVERY online store sells the B40 Elite for less than you could snag it at the Beyond the Rack “sale” and most of them offer shipping less than the $9.95 you’ll pay to BTR. Both Amazon and NewEgg.com sell it for $119.99 and offer free shipping. Sure, this is only a 12% discount, but one of the reasons we love sample sale sites is because you generally can find some of the lowest prices around. The entire sample sale model is based around getting the lowest prices available for a short amount of time. It’s discouraging when this isn’t the case.

Just to make sure the pricing on the Keurig B40 wasn’t a fluke, I went item by item through the other items in the sale and the prices were higher on BTR in almost every instance.

One of the biggest discrepancies is with this KitchenAid 12 Cup Classic Glass Coffee Maker. Beyond the Rack has it for $99.99, where almost every single online store has it for $79.99.

My point here isn’t to bash Beyond the Rack or any other sample sale site, it’s simply to note that you should ALWAYS do your homework and don’t take any site’s word that they’re offering a good price. Google Shopping has become my best friend lately because it quickly shows you where you can get any item online and how much it’ll cost you. When all else fails, check Amazon because they almost always have the lowest prices.
