What Do You Think About Groupon Goods?

by Lisa on September 28th, 2011

Groupon Goods

Have any of you been following the apparent implosion happening over at Groupon?  I think it’s incredibly fascinating.

Some of their head people have quit after only a couple of months on the job.  There are reports that Groupon HAS to keep selling new deals to pay off previous companies they’ve worked with.  They’ve delayed their IPO.  The founder sends out weird/inappropriate emails to the staff. The The staff is filing class action lawsuits because they’re not being paid overtime.  It’s crazy stuff, folks.  Better than any soap opera.

It looks like they’ve got a new venture they’re rolling out: Groupon Goods.

Groupon Goods are discounted items that you can buy for a limited time, similar to what you might find on a site like Woot.com.  In the deal above you could snag an Altrec iphone/iPod Speaker Dock for $40 – down from it’s $100 price tag.  This product sells for $77 at Amazon, so after a very brief search this does appear to be a good deal.

According to the Google Goods FAQ, “Groupon Goods features really good deals on great products. To get airspace on Groupon Goods, a product has to be cool enough to share and innovative enough to inspire.”

Are we heading toward a revamping of the daily deal sites, where they all start to get away from selling vouchers for services, and start selling items in a limited format?

We have all been friends for a long time now, so you know that I love unique jewelry.  Conversation pieces, if you will.

I’m a huge fan of True Birds, so when I saw them featured on Groupon today I knew I had to share it with all of you.  True Birds makes incredibly fun jewelry.

Case in Point:

Cheap Vacation Idea: $399 for Seven-Night Resort Stay from World Resorts International (Up to $1,500 Value)

by Lisa on June 15th, 2011

World Resorts International Discount

Wow -  if you want to go on an incredible vacation but don’t want to pay an arm and a leg, you MUST check out this fab deal over at Groupon.

Just $399 will get you a 7 night stay at a World Resorts International destination in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico! This is a $1500 vacation value!  World Resorts International is a timeshare company, so this will give you access to any of their 500+ locations, as long as there is availability.  Here’s the best part of this offer, in my opinion: They promise not to make any sales pitches to Groupon members that take advantage of this offer!  You’ll be able to go and enjoy 7 nights without getting hassled to invest further in a time share – score.  And, of course, you do NOT need to be a WRI member to take advantage of this offer.

You could use this Groupon to take your family on a vacation to Mexico, Hawaii, Tahoe… the opportunities are numerous!

Here’s some fine print worth reading – don’t worry it’s all good!

Typical WRI properties house about four guests but do not charge extra if any number of guests stay on properties of any size. All taxes, gratuities, and fees are covered with the cost of the Groupon. Room reservations can be made starting 60 days from the travel date, and must be reserved before the Groupon expiration.

You must use your Groupon by June 17, 2012.

Can you imagine – with this offer you could get a one-week-long vacation for up to four people for just $399 + the cost of airfare.  That is pretty incredible!
