This or That: Turkey Fryers!

by Shaina on October 23rd, 2012

I know that a lot of people are focused on Halloween right now, but I’ve never really been into that holiday much.  But Thanksgiving?  Well, that’s my favorite holiday of the year!  There’s something about spending time with family while eating the world’s best meal that gives me the warm fuzzies.  And don’t even get me started on the pies.  We will be celebrating Thanksgiving with my husband’s side of the family this year, and oh my goodness do they make the most fantastic pies.  Yum.  But anyway, I’m getting sidetracked.  I know a lot of people have very strict ideas about how a turkey is properly prepared.  For example, my dad brines his overnight and then grills it outside (which, by the way, tastes divine).  There’s a whole other school of people who think that deep frying a turkey is the way to go.  I’ve been looking into investing in a turkey fryer – it would definitely come in handy around this time of year (especially as I live in an apartment and cannot have a grill!).

This Waring Rotisserie Turkey Fryer and Steamer sells for $249 at drugstore.com.  Not a horrible price for a good kitchen appliance, but I have a hard time spending that much on something I will likely only use a couple of times a year.

At around $150 less, this Butterball Indoor Electric Turkey Fryer retails for $104.99 at Target.  If anyone knows turkey, it’s Butterball, right?  Reviews say that this fryer is extremely easy to use and to clean, although it doesn’t fit extremely large turkeys.  Get ready for Thanksgiving today and prep your kitchen for the Butterball Indoor Electric Turkey Fryer!
