We have included CakeStyle in our list of subscription boxes, although it’s definitely more expensive than all of the other sites and doesn’t contain “samples” the way most of the other sites do. The way CakeStyle works is that you register and work with a stylist and then they send you a complete wardrobe of clothing and accessories! You keep what you want and then send back what doesn’t work for you. Basically, CakeStyle offers personal styling for free … you pay only for what you keep! If you have the cash, this can definitely be a fun way of finding new wardrobe pieces!
Here’s a description of CakeStyle from the Gilt City website:
“CakeStyle will hand pick pieces from the likes of Shoshanna, Elie Tahari, Paige, Milly, Robert Rodriguez or Tracy Reese. You can receive a box of four to six outfits in the mail or visit their showroom for an in-person appointment.”
You only pay for what you keep, but considering the designers I have a feeling CakeStyle isn’t exactly *cheap*. If this is a site you’d like to try out, however, rush on over to Gilt City because they’re offering $300 worth of merchandise from CakeStyle for $150. That’s 50% off some pretty big designer names, and you get the added fun of having a box full of items shipped to your house so you can peruse them at your leisure.CakeStyle, designers, Gilt City, personal styling, subscription boxes
