I was recently contacted by Wilsons Leather and asked to review one of their winter coats. True Story: We didn’t have a lot of money when I was growing up and Wilsons Leather was one of the stores I used to walk by in Oakland Mall in Troy, MI and think – I’m going to shop there when I’m an adult with lots of money.

It’s worth noting that I never actually walked into Wilsons Leather as a kid because I’d just assumed everything was expensive because it was so beautiful. Now, at least 20 years later, I’m happy to admit that the coats at Wilsons Leather are not nearly as expensive as I’d once imagined; in fact, they’re downright affordable.

Wilsons Leather graciously provided me with the opportunity to review a Plus Size Black Rivet Banded-Bottom 3/4 Length Coat, and you can check out my video review above for full details and a more in-depth view of how the coat looks on an actual person.  In the video I also explained that while I don’t always wear plus sizes, I’m very much in-between sizes, and I usually opt for larger sizes when it comes to outerwear so I don’t have any problems wearing my coats over my Chicago-winter-necessary bulky sweaters.

In short, this is quite possibly my new favorite of all time – no joking. There are so many embellishments that make the coat look really chic and much more expensive than it actually cost. Take, for instance, the trench details, and the button sleeves. The collar buttons all the way up, but can also be worn lower with a scarf, which is the route I’ll likely take. I chose this gray coat because I normally go with black and wanted to try something a little different. I am so happy I went this route too – it’s just a fantastic look, I think.

I wore the coat unbuttoned outside a little yesterday – it was in the 50s here in Chicago – and it kept me warm but not overly so. I know that as soon as I button the coat up and add a scarf I’ll be snug for winter. Almost as good as being warm, however, is the fact that I’ll look super cute. {Seriously – I love what the belt does for my waist!}
