I’m at the age now where most of my friends are having babies. Now don’t get me wrong, I love babies and totally don’t mind going to showers, but I always struggle with finding a unique gift. I always want to bring something awesome, you know?! So, imagine my delight when I came across this week’s featured Etsy shop, Britty Bird.
The shop’s owner, Brittany, makes adorable bows, headbands, car seat canopys, sleep sacks, and clothes for the little ones in your lives. So cute! Here are some of my faves.
Ok, seriously?! I want a baby. I want to dress my baby in this. LOVE. Another awesome fact is that Brittany makes this custom, so you choose the color and the pattern. Oh, and it includes a matching bow and headband! Such a great idea!
This just looks warm and toasty. I wonder if she’d make one in my size? Hmm. Anyway, this sleep sack is comparable in size to Carter’s pajamas and can be customized with your color choices as well. This just looks so cozy!
Toddler tie and suspenders shirt
This toddler short sleeve shirt has a sewn on tie and suspenders. Again, Brittany can customize color choices as well. I just think a little boy would look totally precious in this! Plus I don’t know how to tie a tie, so this is helpful for folks like me.
Brittany was kind enough to answer some questions and offer a onesie set (photo below) to a lucky reader. Keep reading for more information!
1. What is your favorite color combination to work with?
Hands down my favorite color combination to work with is red, black and white! I have always loved those colors together and whenever I can work with them, I do! If my husband would let me, our entire house would be these colors as well!
2. What was the first piece you made?
The first piece I made was a little dress (red black and white of course)! I’ve been creating things my entire life but this dress is what started my etsy shop! I had just found out I was pregnant and I had no idea whether I was having a boy or a girl, however I made this damask dress with a red hem and bow. It is still one of my favorite items I’ve ever made!
3. Do you take custom orders?
I do! I love custom orders! I love what my customers come up with and almost all my items are made to order anyway, so making it a little different or totally different is fun. I love creating things for people, and I find that my customers have some really great ideas for me so it allows me to try new things and keep things interesting!
4. What made you want to start an Etsy shop?
I started thinking about doing an etsy shop right after I graduated from college and found out I was pregnant. I wanted to be a stay at home mom with my daughter but I also wanted something during naptime and at night. I learned how to sew from my mother, so it’s always been something I’ve loved doing. I started sewing baby dresses and was able to do a few of those before my daughter was born for friends and family. After she was born I spent a while looking for skinny headbands for her without much luck. I wasn’t a big fan of thick headbands and she didn’t have much hair. I learned how to make my elastic headbands and took a few bow classes as well. I like to keep busy. My daughter keeps me busy when she’s awake but I work during her naps and at night when she’s asleep and I love it!
Thanks Brittany!
