I was not blessed with good skin. I suffered with atrocious acne from about the time I was 10 until the time I was 22. I’m not bluffing you when I say my face was bad. And I’m not one of those gals that had one pimple every three months and now I’m lamenting my bad skin. It just wasn’t good. I was in and out of dermatologists who put me on myriad prescription cleansers, toners, etc., and nothing ever helped.
I tried a new dermatologist after I graduated from college because I was fed up and wanted if not incredible skin then just acceptable skin. That dermatologist had a novel theory: She said my skin was so sensitive that it was rejecting all of the prescription items I was using. She recommended that I stop using products filled with chemicals immediately and use only Dove Sensitive Skin Soap as a cleanser.

I kid you not – within two weeks my face had cleared up completely. I am not someone that will ever preach to you about the dangers of chemicals and all that jazz, but it was so wild to me that just by dropping the chemicals things began to get better. I had tried so many products over the years, starting with Clearasil and ending with prescription products that cost $50 per bottle. To have MY answer be a $1 bar of soap was – and continues to be – stunning.
So afraid was I of messing up the perfect balance I had finally achieved, no other type of cleanser product has touched my face since then. No other cleansers. No toners. No scrubs. No masks. No facials. Nothing.
Until about a month ago.
Remember when I told you all about the crazy deals on the Burt’s Bees Holiday Grab Bags? Well, I ended up ordering one of the bags with the intention of divvying up the products as gifts. My Grab Bag was filled with all sorts of products and it was so much fun to open even if I am giving the products out to others. Inside was one item that I decided to test out on the spur of the moment: Peach and Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub.
I don’t know why I felt compelled to try this product, but I did. Cautiously. I might have had a mild panic attack right beforehand. Yes, I am almost 30 {shhh} but my skin remains so sensitive that washing it twice per day causes me to break out. Seriously.
I put the tiniest amount of the scrub on my fingers and then rubbed it into my face. The chunks in the scrub felt larger than those in scrubs I remember from my days of trying every product under the sun. This product is not finely ground, which I liked because I could clearly feel everywhere I went over my face with the scrub, if that makes any sense. After I rinsed the scrub off I ran my hands over my face and was pleased – my skin felt so smooth. Perhaps more smooth than it has ever felt. The real test though would be the next morning. I went to bed worried that my face would break out over night.
Again – I shouldn’t have worried. Since the first time using this product I can honestly say that my skin has NEVER looked better. This is going to sound so incredibly vain but sometimes I catch myself in the mirror when I’m getting ready in the morning and I stop, smile, and think “You’re finally there.” For the first time in my life my skin looks amazing. Don’t get me wrong – my skin has been relatively blemish-free since I started using Dove soap. While I have no complaints about blemish-free I always thought there could be more. Finally, and completely thanks to Burt’s Bees Peach and Willowbrook Deep Pore Scrub, I can say that I am there.
My skin looks incredible.
Burt’s Bees did not request that I review one of their products. They have not paid me to review their products and they have no knowledge I am reviewing this product. I wrote this review solely because there are very few products that have made me as happy as this one and I wanted to share it with all of you.

Can I be nosy and ask exactly how you work Dove into your routine? Do you use it twice a day? And do you have to use a separate make-up remover? I am still seeking my Holy Grail routine. :)
