Hi, Fantabulously Frugal readers! Shaina here, from Post Smith. I thought I would pop over here around once a week to talk to you about one of my favorite places: Target. Everyone loves Target, right? You have to love a store you can wander in, grab a pumpkin spice latte (what, your Target doesn’t have a Starbucks?), and easily spend $100 on such important things as designer clothes, tampons, mascara, workout clothes, digital cameras, bath towels, and DVDs. I know. Amazing!
But let’s go back to that first thing I mentioned up there … designer clothes. I realize that this might be old news, but the current GO International Collection featured is Tucker for Target. I can’t lie – when I first took a look at the collection online, I thought it was seriously fug. And then I thought … what on earth will I say about it? So I decided to head to Target and take a look at the collection in person. Some of it is really cute! But most of it … well, still fug. But I thought I would share some un-fug pieces with you just in case you haven’t had a chance yet to check it out in person!
First up is my personal favorite: the Tucker for Target Velvet Dress in Burnout ($49.99). What a long, awkward name for such a pretty dress:
Cute, no? I think this dress is adorable, and perfect for the dog days of summer (okay, I’m not 100% sure what that phrase means, but I think that 97 degree weather in the midwest at the end of September calls for a cute little dress). Plus, once the weather gets cool (IF it ever gets cool), it would look great with a little cardigan and tights – or maybe a blazer if you work somewhere a bit more formal.
Next up is another little dress – emphasis on the little: the Tucker for Target Button-Front Dress in Little-Flowers Print ($34.99). Again – the name is bulky, but the dress most certainly is not:
I like this simple little dress, although it is infinitely shorter than anything I could reasonably wear to work … or ever in life. Maybe with tights and boots and a sweater? Wishful thinking?
The other day, I found a semi-cute, semi-work appropriate Tucker dress I was going to post here … but since then, it appears to have disappeared from the Target website. Thus confirming my earlier idea that absolutely nothing from this collection actually IS work appropriate.
And now, just for fun, the ugliest item in the Tucker for Target collection: the Tucker for Target Woven Tee in Magenta ($24.99). Do you ever look at a piece of clothing and wonder to yourself … What on earth were they thinking? This is one of those items.
Honestly. Can someone please explain to me what the heck is going on here? Because seriously, I don’t even know what this is. I am praying to the fashion gods that this weird last 80s/early 90s polyester blend short shell-type-shirt style is not coming back into style. And if it is, well then I will take pride in being gloriously out of fashion.
Have any of you shopped the Tucker for Target collection? Pick up any nice pieces I didn’t mention here? Buy the Woven Tee in Magenta and feel like defending your purchase? Leave a comment and tell us more!

I bought the dress in little flowers print, and since I'm petite it fit me perfectly with the length slightly above the knee. I can see how taller women would have an issue with the length. I think the star piece in the collection is the bomber jacket, which has a nice floral print lining and quality trims. I reviewed the collection and took some fitting room photos on my blog. Overall, I was pleased with the variety of prints, colors, and more grown-up silhouettes.
