Today’s giveaway is brought to you by a new custom chocolate company, Chocbite.
Chocbite is a wholly woman owned business that was formed by Adeline Rem, the Chief Chocolate Lover! Adeline was carefully watching what she ate {in order to lose weight} and, if she was good all day, she would reward herself with a little piece of chocolate {about 50 calories}. Thus began her obsession with the perfect piece, which in turn inspired her to make a chocolate bar company where you could choose your own chocolate type, and all the ingredients too!!!
A few more details about Chocbite:
· The bars are mouth watering pure couverture gourmet chocolate (not the cheap compound stuff that is “homemade”)
· They are made in America (Austin, Texas to be exact)
· They are made in a Commercial Kitchen
I had the opportunity to try two Chocbite candy bars, and what’s neat is that you can go in and literally build your perfect candy bar. You get to choose what type of chocolate you want – black, dark, milk, or white – and then you get to choose the toppings. And oh, are there so many toppings to choose from. It literally took me an hour to decide what I wanted on my bar because I just kept going back and forth. Lemon candy or toffee? Pumpkin seed, espresso, salt, or saffron? Soy nuts or mango? So. Many. Choices!
Here’s one of the two candy bars I designed:
I designed this bar for my boyfriend and it is milk chocolate covered with cashews, toffee, and peanut butter chips. His opinion of the bar? Delicious! I also liked my bar, which I covered in blueberries, salt, cinnamon, and lemon candy. Totally random, right? I can’t control myself when it comes to making decisions so I just chose the things I like best in the world {lemon and blueberries}. I had a dark chocolate bar.
So here’s what I like about Chocbite: The chocolate is good. It’s really good! The dark chocolate bar was just the right amount of dark without being too bitter. The chocolate was a little thicker than most candy bars, which I appreciated. The squares were fairly substantial and satisfying. Also, I loved that there are so many toppings to choose from! I could keep going back and trying to build the perfect bar from the sweet, savory, fruit, and nut toppings.
There are a couple of things I didn’t love: If you look at the picture I took you will see that it appears a bite has been taken out of a piece of chocolate. This chocolate bar was not cheap {approximately $10 for one bar!}, yet half of one piece had a bite out of it, making it not a whole piece at all. I get that Chocbite is using that bite as it’s gimmick, but I might then suggest using a larger piece of chocolate! Second, I wish that some of the toppings had been mixed into the chocolate. Blueberries mixed in with my chocolate, instead of sitting on top, would have been absolutely delicious! As it was, most of the blueberries fell off during shipping.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Chocbite! The design process is so fun, and then having your custom chocolate delivered just a few days later is a hoot.
