Giveaway Day 12: Picture Pages

by Lisa on May 12th, 2010

31 Days of Giveaways

Today’s giveaway is sponsored by Paul and his wife Linda who have come up with a wonderful new way of displaying pictures – Picture Pages!

This giveaway is going to be a little different than all of the others because Paul & Linda are looking for feedback on this product.  Here’s a little bit about how Picture Pages came to be:

My wife passed away Feb 15, 1997 leaving a lot of photos and memories. Life kept going and eventually I met Linda and she had a lot of photos and memories.  When we combined families we wanted to organize memories. I wouldn’t help unless we found a way to display those photos, I didn’t want to put all those photos in order and put them in an album and then put the albums away. That started it and thats why our tag line says As life changes, you can turn the pages.

Picture Pages

In short, Picture Pages are like a scrapbook that you’re able to mount on your wall for everyone to see.  If you want to change the pictures that you see, you just turn the page.  It’s a really neat concept, but Paul & Linda have had a bit of trouble getting it off the ground.  Which is where all of you come in!

The Giveaway:

The winner of this giveaway will receive one small Picture Pages Scrapbook to hang on your own wall!

How to Enter:

First, watch the video above to learn a little bit more about Picture Pages.

Receive one entry by leaving a comment and sharing how much you would be willing to pay for an entire Picture Pages album.

For one additional entry, leave a separate comment with any feedback you can provide Paul & Linda.  What do you think is good about Picture Pages?  What would they need to change to get you to purchase the product?  Any feedback you can provide is very welcome!

I forgot 25% all of the sales at the Bazzar will be going to Relay for life through my cousin Michelle Sibula who will also be there.

Thank everyone for the input. Good luck to the winner. We just found out that the Perfect album will be at Southeast Oakland Arts and Crafts Fair in Ferndale, Michigan this Saturday from 10am til 5pm. We have the small album in stock for the Bazzar and can order the large. You will see that it does lay flat and the windows are quite clear. If it makes sense I will be updating the video on our web-site this weekend thanks to your comments. I want the video to answer those questions and I think the fact that people that have bought one have come back for more says a lot, but without your information I don't think people know what they're getting. By the way the small retails for $29.95 and the large $39.95 and both come with 6 pages and all the hardware to mount it on any wall in your home or office.

I too am not a big scrapbooker so this is the only thing that would make me leary of buying one. I Love taking pictures but I just put them in albums so this would be a nice change to them

I think I would pay around $30 for this. It's a great idea, but alot of work still

I think you should strongly market toward scrapbookers instead of mounted kid photos. mounted kid photos people spend good money on but the kids always hate them and they are not that personal. I have a few scrapbooks that my parents have made or I have put together that I would LOVE to show off while keeping them protected. Your product would be great to just take a page out of a scrapbook and sliding into the picture pages on the wall! It looks to me like a mountable scrapbook! I think its a great idea! Also in the video when you show the picture pages on the wall what if you had multiple ones on different levels creating a visually pleasing and interesting wall decor, maybe like steps and each is a different theme (one all wedding, one all school photos, one all vacation).

I am excited! I hope I get one!

I would pay $20-$25 for picture pages.

These were actually promoted mostly to scrapbookers and they are making some headway. The magnets are very strong and are small little buttons, some of the videos show how well they attract by the clicking sound you see feel and hear. The page protectors are clear plastic and a very high quality, but in some instances depending on the direction of the light you will notice some glare. By showing the portfolios it was just another use we found, you can use these for scrapbook pages, recipe cards, photos, report cards, calendars, and almost any type of item you want to organize a lot of in a small area. The pages definately do lay quite flat.

I think I would like to see the picture pages in person before I determine a price- but I guess a good retail price would be $35-40. Honestly- I probably wouldn't pay that much- but I think that is what it is worth. Does that make sense?

My feedback for this product is that I wonder if the pages would really stay flat and look nice on a wall, or if they would be swinging open and sticking out all the time. If I were going to hang it on a wall, I would definitely want it to look like it was supposed to be there, not like I just took a nice album and nailed it to the wall.

I think I'd be willing to pay about $20 for one of those.

In addition, I wonder about the pages. Do they look like plastic pages on the wall? Does light glare off them? That is the only drawback I see.

I think I would pay between $30-$40 for this depending on the size. Probably not much more because a lot of work still has to be done to put it together. I think it is a neat idea and as a scrapbooker, I would love to display some of my albums like that.

Thank everyone so far for the input. The pages are acid free archival safe. The standard hardware that comes with the album is 2 picture hanging hooks (one for vertical and one for horizintal mounting), 4 velcro strips to keep it steady as pages are turned, but they also allow you to remove it from the wall to pass around and then replace it on the wall. If you can't put holes in your walls, 3M makes picture hanging command strips (about $3.50 to $4.00 per pack) they will hold the album on almost any surface. We used the command strips to hold a small album on our refrigerator, it holds the album in place and the magnets in the pages hold them in place. As far as the black frame we did that to keep it neutral, but we have simple instructions included with every album that shows you how to seperate the album from the frame just by sliding 4 slats that hold it in place, so you can paint or decorate the frame without affecting the album and then replace the 4 wooden slats and it is ready to display again. Please keep asking questions and I will will try to monitor to answer them.

I'm not much of a scrapbooker. I prefer a clean, classic, crisp look. I'd suggest offering some mat frame designs to be included in the clear pockets so that one could simply insert the pictures behind them like they would in a normal frame.

I'd be willing to pay between $30 and $40 for this product. It's an excellent idea!

The current product is sharp looking and seems impressivein function. However, it would be great if one could customize the color scheme - not everybody has decor with which "all black" will work. Another thing that occurred to me is that the demo states there is adhesive in use, but my concern is whether it is acid-free and whether it is gentle enough for easy (and non-damaging) removal of the photos at a later time, if so desired. One thing that might be a neat idea for future iterations is perhaps a small area at the top or bottom of each page where one could label a photo grouping. I'm also curious about the exact hardware and mounting method, because I want both sturdiness (no falling off the wall), and minimal damage to walls (I rent an apartment). This is where the above idea from Courtney about being able to display on mantles and coffee tables is a stellar idea, when it comes to customers who live in rentals.

Regardingmarketing, have you considered partnering with a professional photography studio? Perhaps even a small art gallery or independent artist, if you wanted to go out on a limb?

Depending on a few factors (size, capacity, materials, workmanship, versatility, etc.), I would be willing to pay $40-$50 for a Picture Pages album.

I think the price I'd be willing to spend would be dependent upon how else you could use the album... We are renting a house and aren't able to hang things on the walls... I would like to be able to put this on my fireplace mantle, or on the coffee table. You can't really tell from the video if that is possible. I think it is a great idea though!

You really hit on it with the scrapbooking pages on your website. I think you have a very strong potential customer base there. We scrapbookers like nothing more than to show off our beautiful papers and embellishments. Scrapbooking is so much more fun when it's displayed! Plus, there's a very big trend in framing single scrapbook pages, so this product would feed right into that. This is even more exciting because it's several pages! Also, we wouldn't need to use as many materials because of the way the pictures go in the frames. I'd find market this to all of the scrapbooking bloggers to get the word out! I wish you the best. It's a beautiful tribute to your families'.

I love this idea, but you really have to send people to your website to get the whole picture, so to speak. :- ) I wasn't as excited after just watching the video on FF, but when I saw the examples on your site, I realized the potential. The frames make all the difference! Without seeing these in person--I like to feel the materials, see how things are put together--but I'd say around $50.

I'm not sure from the video how the album hangs on the wall or what is required to hang it. I'm also not sure if I could put pictures that aren't in a portfolio into the album. I would pay less for it if it were only for portfolio pictures, simply because I don't have that many.

If this is the for the entire album I'd pay around $30.
