The Laundress

Laundry is one of the few chores I actually enjoy.  Stick your clothes in the wash and forget about them for an hour or so.  Simple.  What I hate about laundry is when my clothes get destroyed.  Sweaters start to pill, white clothes never look so white… you know the drill.

That’s where The Laundress comes in.  From their website:

“{The Laundress is an} eco-chic line of specialty detergent and fabric care to take the chore out of doing laundry. Frustrated with dingy white t-shirts, ruined items from the dry cleaners and chemically treated cashmere, they researched and developed their own solutions to simplify and master the fine art of laundry. “We knew about 90% of our items that were all labeled dry clean only were washable” says Wieber Boyd. “We knew we could eliminate the need for expensive dry cleaning with toxic chemicals, we just needed the products” says Whiting.  They value the importance of properly cared for clothing and home linens so they formulated the most effective ingredients for each specific fabric need with their favorite scents to create a sophisticated, efficacious, green and easy to use collection.”

Pretty neat, right?  I am all for paying a little bit more to avoid the high cost of dry cleaning bills. But right now “a little bit more” is a little bit less because The Laundress is offering 20% off everything they sell!

One item I think might be worth trying {especially for those of you that invest a lot of money in denim} is this Denim Wash:

The Laundress Denim WashThis product is non-toxic, biodegradable, and allergen free.  A 16 fl. oz. bottle costs $16, or $12.80 after the discount.

If you want to avoid taking your wool and cashmere items to the dry cleaner, it might be worth investing in this Wool & Cashmere Shampoo:

The Laundress Wool & Cashmere ShampooThe instructions on the back of the label tell you how to wash your wool & cashmere products either in the washing machine or by hand.  If that’s not enough, there are also video instruction guides on the website! The Wool & Cashmere Shampoo normally sells for $19 (16 fl. oz.), but with the discount it’s just $15.20.

There are so many useful laundry items on this site, but one that really jumped out at me is this Sweater Stone.  Is there anything worse than a brand-new sweater that starts pilling the moment you put it on? Ugh. I’ve tried everything to remove those pills, but never a stone, so I’d totally give this a shot:

The Laundress Sweater Stone

This stone sells for $18 regularly, or $14.40 with the discount.  Let’s be honest though – I’m willing to pay much more than $14.40 to keep my sweaters looking good for longer!
