Blog Transfer Complete!

by Lisa on February 8th, 2010

Hi Friends!

Thanks to the wonderful Caitlin {aka Geek Mom over at Rent a Geek Mom}, Fantabulously Frugal is now a WordPress site.  Caitlin was wonderful to work with and was totally cool when I sent her 200 emails every single day of this process.

As I mentioned before, if you are thinking of making the jump from Blogger to WordPress, I highly recommend hiring someone to help you make the move, especially if you are not the most tech-savvy person.  On a scale of 1 to 10 in blog tech savviness, I would put myself at about a 6.  Now, at the end of the process, I know there is absolutely NO WAY I could have gone through the transfer alone.

Here’s one reason why: Any of you that subscribe to this site through Google Connect may have noticed that your feed wasn’t updating last week.  It was just one of those things that went a little awry during the move.  Had I not had Caitlin to rely on, that feed would still be broken, and I’d be pulling out my hair trying to figure out the correct code.  The feed was down for a few days, but once I pointed it out to Caitlin she was able to fix it immediately.

If you’re making the move – hire someone.  There are plenty of online tutorials that say it’s a piece of cake, and I have this to say: They all lie.  Hire someone.  Hire Caitlin. She’s really good at what she does.

With that out of the way, if you’ve been by Fantabulously Frugal lately, you’ll have noticed that the site underwent a complete redesign.  FF also gained a new tagline, which reads “You can have the best.  You can have the best for less.”  I think this is far more representative of what this site has become over the past {almost} year.  If you haven’t stopped by, please do, and let me know what you think.

You’ll also notice something huge at the bottom of the page: An email newsletter sign-up!!! MANY of you have emailed me requesting this over the past couple of months, and I’m so sorry it wasn’t available sooner.  I wanted to wait until the *new* site was up before tackling something new.  Per the recommendation of many of you, the newsletter will go out once per week, hopefully on Thursdays.  So, if you’re still interested in receiving Fantabulously Frugal in your inbox once a week, stop on by and sign up.

Thanks for being such wonderful readers!
