I just finished all of my holiday shopping for my boyfriend, brother, and dad, so I thought this might be a good time to look at some under $30 gift ideas for those wonderful men in your life. Some of these items you’ll find in my Holiday Gift Guide, and some are new. Let’s get shopping!
First up, Amazon’s magazine deal of the week is a one year subscription to Entertainment Weekly for just $10!
A year-long subscription retails for a whopping $192.50, so if you know an entertainment-obsessed guy, this magazine deal might save him some major money over the next year!
Keeping in line with the “reading” theme we’ve just begun, Bill Simmons’ The Book of Basketball: The NBA According to The Sports Guy is a huge hit with men who love ESPN and also love Basketball.
At the time I put my gift guide together the book was selling for $16.20 on Amazon. The price has now been reduced to just $12! (P.S. This book is 700+ pages!)
If you’re considering something a little more … literary, check out this line of “Noir” novels.
They exist for a bunch of different cities and areas. The books are essentially collections of noir stories written about each title city by some of the genre’s best writers. Each book costs less than $13.
Let’s face it. Every guy has a little bit of a geek inside of him, which is what makes ThinkGeek.com a great holiday shopping destination. They have a great selection of T-Shirts, such as the one below.
Why yes, this is a T-shirt with a PLAYABLE guitar on it! And it’s only $29.99.
So what do you think is more weird? Playing this shirt or the air guitar in public?
Amazon is having some great deals on TV on DVD. Shows such as Dexter: The First Season can be found for as little as $14.99!
The list price of this show is $39.98! Plus, right now when you order DVDs at Amazon, you’ll receive a credit for $5 in Amazon Video on Demand credit.
The number one show that my boyfriend and I enjoy watching together is Friday Night Lights, which you can currently snag for just $14.99.
My boyfriend is a HUGE sports fan, but I am not. This show is a very happy middle ground for us, with just enough football to keep him happy and enough “story” and romance to keep me happy. Seriously. I LOVE this show.
Threadless is pretty much the best T-shirt shop ever. (Yes, I know I just talked about a shirt from ThinkGeek, but that was a special case.) Where else can you find T-shirts with graphics like this fun “This Game Sucks“?
If you can’t tell, that’s a bunch of arcade characters playing an arcade game called “Real Life.” Mario is telling everyone “This-a game-a sucks!”
All Threadless T’s are currently on sale for just $12, and shipping is free on orders over $50. (psst… they ship internationally, too!) There are nearly 600 unisex shirts to choose from, so you’re guaranteed to find something for everyone’s taste here.
If you know someone that is an adventurous tie wearer, then head right on over to aptly named Detroit-based Etsy Shop Ties That Don’t Suck, where you will find such wonderful items as this Transformer tie:
The image you see has been screenprinted onto the tie and thus each tie is an amazing work of art. There are lots of different designs to choose from, as well as different tie materials. The tie above sells for $30, and most are all are similarly priced.
Finally, if you’re shopping for a guy that loves to BBQ, take a look at this Grill and Barbecue Gift Box, which comes to you from Chicago area-based The Spice House:
For just $19.95 you’ll receive four half-cup jars filled with some of the finest hand-mixed spices around. The set includes Jamaican Jerk Seasoning, Trinidad Style Lemon-Garlic Marinade, Cajun Seasoning, and Bronzeville Rib Rub.
