Giveaway: $50 Gift Certificate to NOVICA

by Lisa on August 18th, 2009

I was contacted by a representative of NOVICA a few weeks ago, asking if I would be interested in reviewing a couple of Novica products and then hosting a giveaway for a $50 gift certificate. I immediately jumped at this opportunity – I am passionate about supporting the arts, and this is exactly what NOVICA does.

According to the website, “We want to give artists and artisans around the world a global platform to express their true artistic talents and to spur their creativity. And, we want to provide you with access to unique, hard-to-find items at great values that only the Internet infrastructure can allow.”

Let me tell you, friends: there are so many hand-made items to be found on the Novica website, it’s absolutely astounding! From green gifts to corporate gifts, there are so many different options!

One of the unique gifts I bought for myself is this pair of Natural Orchid Dangle Earrings:

They’re made out of real orchid petals! The hue of the blue is just gorgeous and the earrings are so light. Since they’re made out of real flower petals, I feel like I have a true one-of-a-kind item!

The second item I bought for myself should come as no surprise to all of you: Sunshine Blossom Wrapping Paper.
I was able to get 6 sheets of the above paper, which is even more beautiful in person. The paper is handmade, and this is evident in the paper, as no 2 pieces are the same. The paper is very light and delicate – I’m absolutely in love with it!

When I received my package last week, it was like I was celebrating an early birthday! Everything was wrapped in beautiful handmade wrapping paper (that I was able to preserve for later use!), and I even received a postcard from Thailand with a hand-written note from one of the artists that I had ordered from! I’ve never visited Thailand, but I feel like I made a little bit of a connection with an artist over there.

There are so many different gift options to be found at NOVICA. Gifts for the home, jewelry, games, and even fair trade corporate gifts!

Here’s why I plan on supporting NOVICA from now on, “NOVICA does not charge artists any fees for listing their items on the website. Furthermore, artists remain fully independent–they are free to raise their prices, lower their prices, or remove their items from our website. By cutting out the long strings of middlemen, NOVICA allows both consumers and artisans to get the most out of each and every transaction.” That was straight from the website. This is definitely a company I want to get behind and support, and I am so excited that one of you is going to receive a $50 gift certificate to this wonderful company!
