First up, Banana Republic, aka my favorite store and where I would most like to go on a $1,000 shopping spree. Not like that would get me very far, but still – it’s more than I can spend out of my own pocket!
I have been in a couple of different BR’s over the past couple of weeks and notice one huge trend: There’s hardly any color! Gone are the days of the bright orange and giraffe print. Now BR is filled with black, brown, taupe, gray, and white. For variety, there’s a little bit of maroon, forest green, and what they’re calling “anchor blue.” It’s a blue so light it’s almost gray.
One thing I was happy to see is that cardigans are all in! They were all over the stores.
In terms of dresses, I was beyond disappointed at what I found in-stores, and the online selection is not much better. Where Banana Republic normally has dresses that would look great on all different body types, I do not see that in this season’s offerings. The dresses are very fitted – there are very few full skirts.
There are a few wrap dresses, though, which usually look good on anyone. This 3/4 Sleeve Faux Wrap Dress is one of my favorites:It’s only available online and it comes in navy (above), black, or coal.
One of my favorite items that I found in one of the stores I visited is this gorgeous shoe:It’s the ‘Laci’ Woven Peep-Toe High Heel. I assure you – this picture does not do it justice. The weaving is amazing and the color is beautiful. These shoes could easily fancify anything in your closet!
Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a colorful Fall wardrobe, Banana Republic is not the place to shop. I am definitely a fan, though can recognize that that the clothes could possibly be considered almost boring by some. There is not a lot of variation in either styles or colors. My wardrobe is full of classic pieces in timeless colors, so this color palette works perfectly for me. The pieces in the fall collection are simple, yet beautiful.
What do you think about Banana Republic’s fall line? Yay or nay?
What do you think about “Trends”? Is this something you would like to see more of? I would love your feedback!
