Are you familiar with Restaurant.com? Via this site you can go online and purchase gift certificates to various restaurants in your area. These aren’t straight dollar amounts though – when the gift certificates aren’t on sale you can normally score a $25 gift certificate for $10. (Read the fine print though – most restaurants stipulate that you must spend at least $35 before you can use your gift certificate.) When all is said and done you can end up spending about $20 to receive a $35 meal.
That’s when the gift certificates aren’t on sale. However, if you’re familiar with Restaurant.com you know that they have pretty much constant promotions going on that lower the price of these certificates quite a bit.
Right now, for example, you can take 60% off any $25 gift certificate (you would be getting a $25 gift certificate for $4), and receive a FREE $15 gift certificate to Dale and Thomas (specialty popcorn makers) when you enter promo code BONUS.
This offer expires April 26, 2009. (Note: You print these certificates out at home. There is no waiting for something to be delivered to you in the mail. You could buy a certificate and use it in the same day.)
Do any of you use Restaurant.com frequently? I’m not going to lie – every time I go to the site they are sold out of gift certificates for the restaurants I would most like to visit. I think the trick is to shop for certificates early in the month (they replenish their offerings at the start of every month). But of course, they don’t really have as many promotions early in the month either. But – a discount is still a discount. Getting a $35 meal for $20 isn’t too bad.
