I was recently introduced to Ebates and I’m not sure how I missed out on this website for so long as it combines the two things I love best: Shopping and Saving Money.
The concept of Ebates is simple: You go to ebates.com when you have some online shopping you need to do, and search for your retailer of choice. You click on the retailer through Ebates and you are connected to the retailers website and you complete your shopping like normal. A pre-determined percentage of your purchase is refunded to you a few days after your purchase is complete.
The retailers that use Ebates are quite abundant and include such companies as: Marriott (I went through and redid all of my upcoming hotel reservations so that I will now be getting 1% back per stay), Orbitz ($3 back per transaction), Hertz, Best Buy, J. Crew, Kate Spade, Bluefly, Banana Republic… and so on and so forth. There are literally hundreds of stores to choose from that all offer cash back shopping.
You might question whether it’s worth it for 1% back, as I noted above for Marriott. Quite simply – yes! The work you have to do is minimal and involves just a couple of extra clicks to get to the store where you want to shop. 1% is the minimal amount you can receive back and most stores offer between 2-5% back! Some that I’ve seen even go as high as 12%! And really – at the end of the day – money back is money back. 1% of a purchase refunded to you is 1% more than you would get if you didn’t go through Ebates. Make sense? And as an added incentive – just for signing up you get $5. Yep, that’s right. Five free dollars!
What better way to be fantabulous and frugal than by engaging in cash back shopping by using Ebates?
